First off, the winner of an eBook (pdf) of EYES OF THE SEER by Peter Dawes chosen by Random.org is Katie Brauning. Katie send me your email address at brendadrakecontests@gmail.com so I can send you your prize. Everyone else go to this post for more information about this exciting story, and support one of our own.
Super Intern Contest
Okay, now about the contest. We had many participants of The Writer’s Voice ask what was wrong with their pitch and why it didn’t make it into the contest. There are so many reasons why an entry might not have been chosen. Tastes are subjective. There were 200 entries and we each could only pick ten. There were many I wanted, but had to pass on. So for me, it came down to knowing if I could make a difference, if I could coach the writer, and if the premise excited me.
Anyway, I got to thinking (I know dangerous, right?) and came up with an idea to have my CP and one of my besties, Erica M. Chapman, who’s an agent intern for Louise Fury with L. Perkins Agency tell thirty lucky writers when she stopped reading their pitches or which ones would make it out of the slush pile.
Not enough? My other besties, Shelley Watters and Monica B.W. and I are giving away critiques as prizes. Plus you never know, if Erica likes any of the entries enough, she just might recommend them to Louise Fury.
How it’s going down …
Enter in the Rafflecopter below. You can earn many entries. On June 9th Random.org will select 30 lucky winners to participate in the Super Intern Contest. This is not for the faint of heart, so don’t sign up unless you can handle the honesty. I will post the 30 winners along with instructions on June 10th, so check back then to see if you won. You must be ready to email me your pitches immediately. Good luck everyone!
I love your contests and giveaways. Always very creative!
I’m sure you’ll keep surprising us!
This is awesome, thank you!
what a great idea!
Wow, I’d already done all these things. I love all the contests. Thanks! Keep up the great works.
Dude, another awesome contest!
For the record, I follow everyone everywhere. And pitch/query contests are incredibly beneficial since so many writers suffer with crafting ones that do their stories justice.
I follow everyone. I love your contests. Based on the feedback alone, everyone wins in your contests.
This is a great contest! Thanks for offering it up.
I already follow Monica on Twitter 🙂 Now I’m following everyone’s blog as well.
And I’d love to see more pitch contests with agents or critique contents from fellow writers/agents.
Awesome! I didn’t enter the Writer’s Voice and I wished I had. Thanks for another great opportunity!
Ooooh, this sounds super-duper! Thanks for the opportunity!!
I was already following everyone on Twitter, and two of the four blogs. Now I’m following them all! I always love when I find great new blogs to follow. 🙂
I love any sort of agent judged contest. Actually, they are kind of addicting! I also love workshops where writers can critique each other. Any chance to help each other out is great.

My daughter works as a summer intern for my business. A pretty cushy job of taking a few photos and keeping the website updated. Little does she know what some ‘interns’ have to go through. Thx for wrangling a few to read *even more* submitted material from the masses.
They’re either sweethearts or suckers. :: insert grin :::
Brenda, et al~ Thanks for continually sharing your time and experience with us writer-type folks.
I was already following Brenda and Monica, now I’ll follow everyone!
I’m a sucker for contests. I love the excitement. I like agent judged contests or ones like this one that provide examples of what would or would not make it out of the slush pile.
Yes! You know I love the contests, almost as much as I love you ladies! 😉

Very excited for this contest!
Definitely entering! So excited I won the book.
I love that your contests bring us together and help us work as a team going forward. Looking forward to meeting more authors and agents with this contest!
Hi, Brenda (and others!) Thanks for all your support for writers. This is just so bloomin’ awesome! :o)
So excited about this contest. I would like to see more of a variety in genres for the contests. It seems like the contests are always geared towards the same genres (I know it’s usually because of the agents), just saying what I’d like more of…I’m writing a narrative memoir and have yet to see any contests that would include that genre 🙂
I love this idea!! What a cool contest!!
I loooooooooved the Writer’s Voice and the Twitter Pitch was a spastic blast on my end, lol.
Others have mentioned it, but some varying in genres would be nice. I could use a little chick lit love!!
You contests are wonderful. You can’t learn to be better without some honesty. Good luck, everyone.
This sounds fun! The Writers Voice family keeps growing and it’s exciting to get feedback! Yay!
Yay! I knew this was it! Another great contest! Thank you all for doing this! 🙂
Brenda- awesome contest! I would love to enter, but sadly I’m still in revision stages of my novel- This is truly great though. Wish there was more stuff like this around once a year.
What a fantastic contest! I followed everybody (on blogs and twitter) that the Rafflecopter prompted me to. I think the contests and workshops you guys have offered so far have been really great. Can’t wait to see more! 🙂
Brenda, how do you find any time to do anything else with all the great contests you put on?! <3
You are awesome as always!
This looks awesome =). I’d love to have a professional critique, so fingers are crossed.
Heh, additionally, I follow your blog and everyone on twitter! As far as contests go, I’m really up for whatever. I just hope I’m not so flustered next time and am able to submit.
Thanks, Brenda!
For the record, I follow as many agents, etc., as I can. I stumbled upon VickiMotter a while ago and love her advice =).
I discovered Cupid’s blog by accident in January and now find myself happily swimming in the MG/YA internet world of awesomeness. I’m amazed by how generous some bloggers are (Brenda!) opening the doors and windows for writers and agents.
Thanks for hosting another awesome contest! 🙂
Woo, I’m excited! I found your blog over the Writer’s Voice, Brenda, and now I come to it all the time! I love these contests; thanks so much for hosting it 🙂
May have got the wrong Shelly Watters, there’s a bunch of them and none exactly fit the handle you provided.

Interesting contest! But, I can’t follow Erica’s blog because it requires flash and I work off an iPad. How am I suppose to follow? That’s not fair! 🙁
Either way, best of luck to everyone!
You do so many cool contests for fellow writers! Thank you! I saw your book release info mentioned in the YAlitchat newsletter today, congratulations!
I follow you all on Twitter and through Google Reader. Thanks for another great contest! I was away during the submission period for the Writer’s Voice, so glad to have another shot now.
Congrats to Katie for the win! And what a great contest – I’m in! Can’t wait to see who the lucky 30 are. You spoil us, Brenda!
Forgot to add that I’m following all four of you on Twitter as well as your blogs!
I am so glad I found your blog! Not to mention I appreciate your generosity in hosting this contest. As for workshops, I would love to join a one that teaches a writer how to put more “voice” into their stories.
Thanks!
Talynn
I follow a few agents on twitter, and twitter is how I found out about this contest. 🙂
You continue to amaze me. From one huge contest right into another. And of course, here I am! 🙂
Thank you for giving so much of your time to help us. <3
Your contests are always so much fun! Just keep up the awesomeness 🙂
Thank you for the opportunity. Not only to enter the contest, but the opportunity to follow your blog — found out about it on QT.
Thanks all for joining in. I’m glad you enjoy the contests. I can’t wait to see how it plays out.
Krysten Hill – Your question was answered on QT but I’ll put it here too. You can get a flash player for iPad here: http://www.techespot.com/2011/04/flash-player-for-ipad-and-ipad-2.html
Fun contest!
I’m in!
I follow all of you on Twitter and blogs. Thanks for the contest!
Good grief. You’re gonna get so many entries! ^_^
Oh, and I’ve just finished following everyone. ^_^ Now it’s back to writing …
I’m following all of you. Thanks so much for this contest ladies!
Thanks for the opportunity!
Based on the current number of entries, here are some random stats from an author who also loves math:
4.63% – Probability of any single entry being randomly selected
41.67% – Probability of an entrant who completed ALL NINE entries being randomly selected
Thanks for joining everyone!
Ha! John, I love mathematicians but am seriously lacking in math skills. Love the difference between the odds!
Wow, John. So many writers forget to look at the numbers. Thanks for reminding us numbers are just as important as words!
I was one of the 200 in the Writers Voice competition but didn’t get selected for a team. It would be great to have feedback on improvements I could make 🙂
I follow everyone on their blogs and Twitter.
As far as contests, getting feedback from other writers (or agents) is always great.
Thanks for another amazing contest!
Woohoo! The probability swung in my favor! Email sent.
