Philadelphia Parking agent Ana spends her days dodging angry citizens. When she boots the car of business tycoon Jonathan Hadley, sparks fly. Driven and successful Jon gets what he wants—except a sassy meter maid with trust issues. Their chemistry is intense but they need to find common ground. Otherwise, they’ll have to rely on the cardinal rule of parking enforcement – lock that wheel boot and run!
Eyes closed, desperate for another few minutes of quiet, Ana Schroeder slouched against the uncomfortable plastic chair. Her stomach rumbled, revolting against the chocolate bar wolfed down minutes ago and topped with coffee. A headache threatened behind her temples.
Snippets of complaints and conversation floated around her.
“Can you believe this shit?”
“I know. Our shifts start early enough without making us come in at the crack of dawn, just for a lame publicity stunt.” A disgusted snort and grumble followed.
She felt their pain, considered it her own. Mornings were never fun to begin with, especially when they came after spring weekends in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Not one shift passed where she didn’t spend a few seconds wondering how her ass landed in the Philadelphia Parking Authority. She considered herself smart and educated, within reason. Yet she wore cargo pants, a polo, and cap with the PPA logo on the front.
Four years of college and she became a glorified meter maid. Well, Parking Enforcement Officer, but the good citizens weren’t fooled. She and her peers were the enemy, the most hated figures on the streets. Second only to their reviled sister city of Pittsburgh.
She pointed out parking errors in judgment and people paid through the nose for them. Even the Catholic nuns littered around the city would have loved to show her the NY state bird, pesky conscience be damned.
