PW Interviews

Our mentors are editing, our mentees are revising, and we hope you’re making progress on your own manuscript! While we’re all working toward the Agent Showcase on November 3rd-9th, we hope you’ll take a moment during your writing breaks and get to know our 2016 Pitch Wars Teams.

And now, we have . . .

Rebecca Yarros – Mentor

Tricia, why did you choose Rebecca?

I chose Rebecca because of her Deadpool Gifs. Seriously, I chose her because she is an accomplished rock star of a writer who isn’t afraid to take on sensitive subjects. Rebecca is as direct as I am, she will give it to me strait and expect the best from me in return. Oh, and she has a great sense of humor.

Rebecca, why did you choose Tricia and her manuscript?

Tricia had me laughing from page one of her MS, which isn’t an easy task. Add to that her fresh voice, and stellar concept, and I was hooked.

Tricia, summarize your book in three words.

Funny. Sexy. Body-Positive.

Rebecca, summarize Tricia’s book in three words.

Sexy. Witty. Opposites-attract.

Tricia, tell us about yourself. What makes you and your MS unique?

A tomboy at heart, I raced a lot of BMX growing up and got into a decent amount of trouble, developed a love of hard rock music and good Irish whiskey and I will always prefer my Vans to my heels. I have a degrees in both accounting and sociology, and I wrote my honors thesis on the sociology of women’s sports. However, I much prefer to use my trucker-like vocabulary and dirty mind to spin tales of curvy heroines and the men who love them. When I’m not writing, you can find me reading (voraciously), swimming or participating in agility events with one of my two adorable dogs. I live in the North Dallas burbs with my husband of sixteen years and I know something about living large in a size six world. I’ve been where my heroine was, where a lot of women have been––insecure about my body––and I’ve learned to love myself because of my flaws…Not in spite of them.

Find out more about Rebecca Yarros’s Ignite . . .

Ignite (Legacy) by [Yarros, Rebecca]It only takes a spark…

In Legacy, Colorado, I buried my father alongside his elite Hotshot team. Ten years later, I’ve followed in his footsteps—fighting fires in the mountains of Alaska with my brother. Amid the flames, nothing ignites me like Avery Claire. She’s stubborn, strong, sexy as hell, and my best friend. She also has no idea that I’m in love with her. But Colorado is calling me home, needing every Legacy-born firefighter to successfully rebuild our fathers’ team. One night will change everything between us,
But she’s tied to Alaska and my future is in Colorado. Now I’m torn between what my honor demands, And what my heart can’t live without.
