I was struggling with my daily goals, but now have caught up. The NaNoWriMo site says I need to write 1666 words a day to finish on time, which totally freaked me out because of the story I’m writing. I’m sort of fearing my story. Is it bad to have hot priests in my story like the guy above? Or the possessed priest I posted in an earlier post?
The Catholic guilt is getting to me. I know this story will be great, but I feel uncomfortable. It’s nothing I’ve ever written before. It’s darker. I’ve brought together good and evil, and questioned the foggy line between the two.
Yowza!!!! You will be fine and you will win!! I won’t let you quit!!!
When you start to feel nervous about your story, that’s when you know it’s starting to get good. Go for it. 🙂
I agree with Bethany and hot priests are always good in my book! *salivate*. Yumm. I would love to be reformed by him. 🙂
Wow! i guess I don’t think that much about my story and just write what comes to me. I hope it creates some controversy, some reason to talk about it and question it. Stretch the mind of the reader. But if it doesn’t than I hope it’s just a good story. 🙂
Thanks guys! It’s definitely scary and exciting to write within your fears. I’ve had some interesting dreams this month – LOL!
Hot guys are good no matter what! I hear you having been raised in a religious family myself, but I say go for it. No holds barred, because it will just make it all the more interesting and delicious. 🙂
I felt the same way about a scene yesterday; the character did something dark that changed much of the dynamic between the characters, and for a while I wasn’t sure if he should do it or not. But I finally decided to write it anyway–he needed that push forward. 😛
I actually had a publisher ask me to re-write a relationship between two characters in my novel because it would make the readers squeamish once they realized who was who. I thought it added a twist. They thought it added a twist that was just a bit too much on the raw side for YA. So, for them, I rewrote, but I still have the original copy just in case. Still have some more editing to do before I send it back to the publisher. keeping fingers crossed. 🙂
Oh my…I had a hard time reading this post…my eyes refused to go lower than the first photo…LOL
An acting coach way back when said that after a scene if we feel vulnerable and a little like we shouldn’t have done what we just did – like a one-night-stand – then we played the scene well.
YES, and it is terrifying and exhilarating at the same time. You can do it! Only a few more days!
Thanks for joining me. Funnily enough I’m writing a book for grown-ups, well the first I hope to publish after the four, nearly five, I’ve published for children, and this book is also a struggle between good and evil, but like most of my work has a great deal of humour in it.
Thanks for all the encouragement. It’s definitely a struggle when you’re raised not to think evil thoughts. Writing becomes a release. I just won’t let my mother read it. LOL
Wow, Brenda… My first novel has a character that has to save the world. She is an alien on Earth. At one point, she is lying on a gurney with her arms spread out. The MC lookes at her and thinks she looks like JC on the cross. My husband had a COW. I never tried to get that published, but to this day, that particular scene bothers me. If I ever go back to that manuscript, I will probably have to cut that one scene.
Mine is enough from the heart I plan on releasing under a pen name to avoid any unneccessary headaches. My novel-now-a-trilogy might fatuously be summed up as an examination of submission and the relationship between God and mankind through a D/s pseudo leasbian relationship. Yeah, that might step on a few toes… Don’t know that too many people will see the subtext, but it’s there, and I’m a’feared… o.o
