I leave you with a holiday song that is special to our family. My family lost a dear loved one many years ago, before I was born. As my grandfather drove his wife and two young sons home from the hospital, this song played on the radio. My father was just a boy when his sister passed away, but he always sang this song while I was growing up, and he would cry even though the years had added up to decades, then to a century. It was as though his sister was telling them that she was going home for Christmas and would be with her maker, safe and without pain. I didn’t even know her, but I feel the loss and hope in this song. May you be home for the holidays, safe with your families. And if you are not home or are alone for the holidays, know that our writing community is with you in spirit.  Love, hugs, and best wishes to all!

Beautiful and heartbreaking. That song has made me teary since I first left home. For 4 years, I was only a 12-hour drive away, then for 4 more years, I was a 2-flight day away. Now, for 6.5 years, I’ve been on another continent and haven’t been home for the holidays in a long time. I know how special that song can be, but more importantly, the memories and thoughts that come up this time of year. *hugs* Thanks for sharing 🙂

  • Beautiful story, beautiful song. The music is my favorite part of Christmas. <3

Quick question about the 5 page limit for the applications…

A chapter of mine ends on page 8. Is it okay to send the eight pages to finish the chapter? I know a lot of agents say you can do that to wrap up the sample.

    Thanks!

Please only submit the 5 pages. Most 5 pages will end in the middle of a chapter. If the mentor wants to read more, they’ll ask for a partial. Thank you!
