When fifteen-year-old Izzy’s mad scientist dad brings home a secret project from work to heal her dying sister, Izzy must confront her father’s superhuman bosses who want their technology back—and who are willing to kill Izzy and her family to get it. MY SISTER’S KEEPER meets THE BIONIC WOMAN.

Excerpt:

Upstairs, my sister Leah slept the sleep of the half-dead. Pale light slanted down the stairs and the only sounds were the ticking of the clock, my soft footfalls, and my own breath. She’d made me promise to wake her up. Said we needed to talk before I left for school. I set my bio presentation on the kitchen counter, checking to be sure the petri dishes were safe. With one hand, I shoved a fistful of dry Froot Loops into my mouth. With the other, I hunted for a pen.

I grabbed one of the millions of Hyperion Group pens lying around the house and a matching notepad. Taking you hand in hand into the future was written in maroon lettering across the top, and underneath it, I scrawled out a message, promising we’d have that talk later. Much later. Like maybe in two weeks or two years.

Not that she had two years.

My note sat on the Froot Loop dusted counter, saying not enough and too much at the same time.

The doorbell rang. It rang again. My presentation under one arm, I ran to answer it. The ringing now filled the front hall in one long tone. What was he doing, leaning on it? I pushed the door open one-handed and the bell cut off, mid buzz. Upstairs, a door slammed.

Morning glare bounced off the delivery guy’s bald head and signing pad. “Delivery for Eli Silverstein.”
