WEBINARS

The Pitch Wars team is thrilled to be launching our new webinar series!

About Pitch Wars Webinars . . .

The Pitch Wars webinar series was developed to help writers at every stage of their careers. Mentors and industry experts will host webinars focused on pitching, publishing, developing craft, and more.

Pitch Wars is a contest where published/agented authors, editors, or industry interns choose one writer each, read their entire manuscript, and offer suggestions to shine it up for agents. The mentors work with their mentees for two months before an agent round. Learn more.

ALL SESSIONS WILL BE RECORDED, so if you can’t make the exact day, you will have access to the webinar after the event.

The First 10 Pages Intensive . . .

Join us for a two-part intensive workshop focused on the first ten pages of your MS.

The first ten pages are the window into the world of your novel. If readers (and agents and editors) take a peek inside and don’t see all the elements of a compelling vacation spot, they’ll find another destination.

Heather Cashman will break down those first ten pages and examine the components necessary to not only make readers finish those ten pages but be excited to reach THE END. (Not suitable for picture books.) Be ready to analyze, break-down, and rebuild your words. Heather is also hoping to do some live edits on willing participants.

The Details . . .

Session 1: Tuesday, May 9, 8:30 pm – 10pm ET
Session 2: Tuesday, May 16 , 8:30 pm – 10pm ET

Cost: $45 to attend the webinar

Please note: There is a 50 person limit for the webinar

Critique: For $50, Heather is offering a query and first ten page critique.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Heather’s lab reports always lacked the fantastical elements her imagination craved. Hypotheses turned into taglines and novels that range from Epic Fantasy to Contemporary, Speculative Fiction. Heather’s love of literature and writing developed into a publishing industry career when she became Assistant to Author Brenda Drake and then Managing Director of Pitch Wars, #PitMad, and Pitch Madness. She’s also an agent intern, a member of SCBWI, and was previously an Editor/Ambassador for Cornerstones Literary Consultancy US/UK. Soon, she’ll be able to officially announce her latest endeavor as Head of Acquisitions for a small publisher.

Reviews from some of Heather’s clients . . .

“Heather is a writer’s dream editor: clear, thorough, and insightful. She understands what your book is trying to do, and can articulate exactly where intention falls short of reality. I found her suggestions for revision incredibly helpful and inspiring – the kind of ideas that make you excited to get back to work, even when it feels like you can’t possibly rewrite one more scene. I recommend her highly to writers at all stages of the game.” ~Amanda Sellet

“I recently hired Heather Cashman as my editor. Not only did I receive a great service, I ended up with so much more! Within days of having sent her my manuscript, Heather had already read through it several times and I could tell she was genuinely excited to work with it. A few weeks later, I was handed an extensive report that analyzed every aspect of my work from character profiles and overall theme to target audience and marketability. It was a lot more than what I expected and unquestionably the best value of any editing service I’ve purchased in a decade of writing. As an editor, Heather’s best quality is her positive and constructive approach that opened up new possibilities for my manuscript and empowered me to expand it in every direction. She identified strengths that could be further developed, provided practical suggestions to smooth out weaknesses, and ultimately showed me how to focus in on my target audience. I recommend Heather Cashman to anyone looking to attain submission quality and make their manuscript stand out in the crowd.” ~Kevin Villeneuve

  • I so want to do this, but my life is sort of up in the air right now. Will this be recorded if we aren’t able to attend live?

  • Hi Am says:

    Hi Heather,

I submitted the first 10 pages and Query critique. Will we hear back via email? And is there a rough time limit?

    Thank you!

    • Emily Strong says:

Was just going to ask the same thing!

      • I’m trying to have them back before the webinar begins so you can actually work on things during the webinar. Cross your fingers for me. I haven’t been emailing anyone other than the automatic responder, but if you’re worried, you can DM me and I will look for your name. Emily–I have yours.

        • Hi Am says:

Heather – thanks for the reply. I just wanted to add the confirmation email for the webinar/critique was in my spam folder. I found it after your email. Thanks all!
