Pitch Wars … the teams!

Wednesday, 12 December 2012  |  Posted by Brenda Drake

CPSeek! Before announcing the teams for Pitch Wars, we wanted to tell you about a gift our wonderful mentors are extending to all the awesome writers in our community. It’s a site for hanging out, for finding critique partners and beta readers, and for asking questions about the industry or about writing to the mentors. We’re so thrilled how great it looks we have to shout out to Fizzygrrl’s husband, Andrew Heacock (@quickchaos), for all his hard work on designing and setting up the site. Click on the pic and go check it out!

PITCH WARS! We’ve worked hard reading, flagging entries, pulling our hair out, and praying no one would take our top picks, and finally it’s time to reveal our teams for Pitch Wars. You will notice that along with the mentors’ picks are listed two alternates. What’s the role of an alternate, you may ask? If a mentor’s writer drops out of the contest, the mentor can choose one of their alternates to replace that writer. If the mentor feels there isn’t enough time to get an alternate ready for the agent round the mentor can opt out of the contest and not take on another writer.
ALTERNATES SHOWCASE! But that’s not all, as a special reward for waiting in the wings, we are putting the alternates on a few host blogs and inviting agents and editors to stop by and make requests to read more. This event will happen at the same time as the main contest. Agents participating in the contest are not required to read the alternates entries. But this will be a great showcase for the alternates.
TWITTER PITCH PARTY! For those of you who didn’t make it into Pitch Wars, there will be a twitter pitch party on the hashtag #PitMad on January 25. We’ll announce more details as the event nears. So get your twitter pitches ready and make sure to include the hashtag in your 140 character count.

And now, here are the teams …

  • *faint*

Still recovering regular cognitive functionality. This is me today: Pull up email. Squee. Happy Dance. Grip keyboard. Hyperventilate. Pull up contest results. Squee. Happy dance. Pull out boxing gloves. Realize I can’t type wearing boxing gloves. Put boxing glove away and put on figurative boxing gloves. Grin wickedly. Rinse and repeat.

    Let’s get this party started!

Thank you Brenda for hosting this and everyone participating for your added energy, enthusiasm, and entries. Looking forward to January!
